a yoga filled weekend

I spent the majority of my weekend at a yoga workshop run by Simon Borg-Olivier.  It was brilliant.  Totally brilliant.

I've never done that much yoga in such a short space of time before.  I thought I would be incredibly tired today but I am feeling rather energetic and sprightly (for a Monday).

Hope your weekend was refreshing and wonderful too.

a midweek crisis

Uploaded on January 13, 2010

I am having one of those days where everything seems a little pointless.  Or boring, to be more exact.  I would much rather be sewing or crocheting or knitting or dancing or singing or yoga-ing or writing...anything rather than sitting in a poorly ventilated office staring at a computer screen for eight hours.  I am feeling a little teenage in my desire to shout out, "what's the point?!"

Of course I know what the point is.  I'm trying to swing some Yogic perspective and tell myself that it's my Dharma.  I'm dreaming about a holiday and I know that this is how I get to have one.  I know.  I know.   Yet I still feel like throwing a tantie today.  I.  just.  don't.  wanna.

My one major dream has always been to become a writer.  Not an office dweller.  I am not a writer now but I still think I could be one.

Can't I?

P.S  I don't think my life is halfway through, by the way!  Hopefully more like quarter way through :)

It's a Champagne life!

I'm having one of those weeks where everything seems...well...a little bit shit.  I started the week with a visit to the dentist, so that should just say it all really.  I've gotten myself into a grumpy little huff and have stomped around feeling all sorry for myself.  Well, I'm done with that now!

I've been reading things like this, and thinking about this tragic story and I've realised that I really have nothing to complain about.

So, with that in mind, here's a few reasons why my week is actually amazing (and not shit at all):

  1. I'm going to see the amazing Paul Kelly on Saturday night - hooray!
  2. Yoga classes have started up this week after a week off.  I really missed it.
  3. Glee is on tv tonight
  4. Good Food and Wine Show is on Sunday and we have free tickets
  5. According to today's "Work Health Check" my cholesterol and blood glucose levels are really good, which means a low chance of diabetes for me

My Yoga moments

I am absolutely and totally in love with Yoga at the moment (and hopefully indefinitely).  I started doing a course about 10 weeks ago and haven't looked back.  I used to go to classes years ago but stopped and never seemed to be able to start again.  I went to a class here and there but it just never felt right.  Never fit.  I'd almost given up hope on finding a great yoga class again when I received a flyer in my letterbox about a yoga course starting just minutes from my house.  What luck!  Especially considering I don't normally even read the squillions of advertising material that ends up in our letterbox (straight to the recycling bin for you!).  So I consider myself exceptionally blessed to have found a class and a teacher that feels right for me.  So right in fact that I have started going twice a week.  Tis brilliant.

I also happen to be reading "Eat, Pray, Love" by Elizabeth Gilbert at the moment which has been a lovely coincidence.  A work college gave it to me to read because she though I would like it.  I must say that I was pretty ignorant about what the book was actually about.  I had seen it around before but had no idea what it was about, and felt obliged to read it purely because it had been loaned to me.  But I am very much enjoying the read and am sorry I hadn't read it sooner.  It's very honest and inspiring.  I do recommend it :)

I am thoroughly enjoying my two little unexpected yoga moments - what are you enjoying right now?

Three things

Thought I would follow Dawn at handmadelove and share three things about me (check her's out here):

1.  I went to Japan in March this year.  It was absolutely amazing! (That's me below in Shinjuku)

2.  I've been going to Yoga classes for the past few months and I absolutely love it!  I'm going twice a week now and I feel fantastic for it.

3.  I have two adorable cats named Alex and Jasper

That is all :)
